Faculty, Staff and Retiree Giving

The All-University Fund Drive (AUFD) is an annual effort supported by the dedication of faculty, staff and retirees - Oakland University’s closest allies. Giving sets us apart as leaders striving to make a difference for our students and furthering the work we do.

Make sure to get your gift or pledge in prior to December 9, 2016, to take advantage of the 50% match offered by President Hynd's office!

Did you know:

  • OU is a nonprofit organization and relies on donor support to keep education within reach and offer the programs on which we pride ourselves.
  • Many students receive scholarships that help ease the financial burden of a college education. Others participate in student organizations, research and other activities that benefit from donor support.
  • President Hynd's office will match $.50 for each dollar donated, up to a total individual gift of $5,000 ($2,500 match). That means a gift to your favorite fund goes even further! Match counts towards gifts and pledges made prior to Dec. 9, 2016.
  • Tuition alone only covers around 80% of the cost to educate a full-time student. Donors like you help fill that gap.
  • You can give to your own department or area to help your work go further.
  • And all students benefit from the strong academic infrastructure that exists because of the generous support of our closest friends and allies, the faculty and staff who have dedicated their careers to this campus and those students.

AUFD Co-Chairs

Robert Gaylor

I was employed by Oakland University for 38 years. Through my employment and connections within the OU family, my personal and professional goals were enriched. Giving my support to the “All University Fund Drive” allows me to give back to the academic community that fostered and supported initiatives that were important to me.

-Robert Gaylor
Ret. Associate Professor, Kresge Library

Dr. Janet Graetz

I have been blessed to teach at a university that values the future of our young people and that recognizes how the spirit of a university extends to the students, faculty, staff, and community. Now is a time that I can further that spirit by donating to the AUFD. My life has revolved around individuals with autism and I look forward to donating to the Oakland University Autism Center to ensure that families affected by autism can enjoy an improved quality of life. I give to say "thank you" to OU for becoming an academic leader in so many areas, including the field of autism!

Special Education Coordinator

Dr. Krista Malley

Why would anyone give their hard earned money to something like the AUFD? Simple. Higher education is something I firmly believe in and having the support to get a degree, like the Comeback Scholarship, is vital. I want everyone to have the access to aspire to rise and walk across the stage, shake the President's hand, and hear their family and friends cheering on their accomplishment--a milestone that will take them to the next level.

-Dr. Krista Malley
Manager for Student Success

Dr. Jon Margerum-Leys

Why I give:

1) I’m happy at Oakland University, it’s my work home and being here makes me grin. Giving helps spread that happiness around.

2) AUFD lets me target my giving to things that matter most to me while being part of something bigger than myself. It’s like being able to add the croutons to the salad. Someone else will add the beets, another person the avocado, and together we create something great; flavored with our own individuality, yet much more fulfilling than what we could do on our own.

3) I give because it’s an expression of freedom. Like most of us, many of my choices are limited. Not my giving: I can give whatever I want to whomever I wish. It’s completely my choice. I love to think about it, consider the options, then choose.

Lori Marsh

Each year it is so exciting to celebrate a successful AUFD and to know that I am contributing to that success. All gifts, great or small, come together to support the University and the difference it can make in so many lives. As an employee, it is rewarding to see my gift to the CSA enhance the opportunities for student organizations. As an alumna of the MPA program, I know my gift is appreciated and beneficial to its success. I find it is easy to give and the reward is to know that I make a difference!

As retirees we all spent many years on campus. I feel strongly that Oakland's retirees have an obligation to financially support the programs on campus that interested us most or simply give an un-designated gift to be used where most needed. There is no better way to do that than during the All University Fund Drive when our gift will get a 50% match from President Hynd.

-Pat Nicosia
Ret. Director, Budget & Financial Planning

AUFD Volunteers

The All-University Fund Drive is supported by a network of volunteers across campus. Team captains and leaders tell their own stories about why they support OU, educate their teammates about the AUFD and answer questions about the philanthropy process and its importance on campus.

To find your team captain and leader, please select your school or unit below. While most areas are represented by a team leader, some still need volunteers! Contact the Office of Annual Giving at (248) 370-4504 if you are interested in volunteering as a team leader.
